My wife Pam and I have been attending CEBC since June 2019 and became members about a year later. We have two children and four grand- children. Previously we lived in Jamul from 1990 – 2019 and were involved with Jamul Community. Over the years at JCC I taught a weekly small group, Sunday School, and an after-service prayer ministry, much like what I have been involved with at CEBC for the past year. I also served as a Dea- con and later as an Elder on the JCC board.I began attending David Redelings’ Sunday School class, and lat- er we began co-teaching the class. In March 2022 Pastor Kenny gave permission to start the after-service prayer ministry. We have 19 people involved in our four ministry teams. Born into a family of non-practicing but self-identify- ing Christians, I didn’t accept Jesus until arriving at Clairemont Emmanuel in 2011. As a child I didn’t go to church unless it was with one of my friends. It took another 20 years of God meeting me where I was at and fully revealing Himself to me. My husband Matt and I have been married since 2008 after meeting at our jobs in corporate America, where I’ve worked since 2001. Now I am a regular church attender and hate to miss a Sunday! I have been serving on the Women’s team since 2013, and more recently stepped out to help with the Sunday morning Greeter team. (Write below and submit if you would like to contact Catherine)

I began my spiritual journey in 1990 at a local church where I heard the gospel and got saved. I was bless- ed to get involved right away, joining both the audio and the worship team ministries. I had the privilege to serve as a worship leader in that church for 25 yrs. I was involved in a home fellowship where I met my wife Eileen, mar- rying in ‘91. We have three wonderful sons, and have been members at CEBC since 2018. I began serving during the pandemic by mov- ing equipment for the outdoor services. Later, I became a parking lot greeter, which is such a joy to meet everyone and learn everyone’s names. I currently serve with Sunday morning set up, first service ushering, and occasionally play with the worship team. We love it here at Clairemont Emmanuel and love serving here. Jessica grew up a pastor’s kid (Pastor Eloy); at age 5 she became a Christian here at Clairemont Emma- nuel. Jessica attended Point Loma Nazarene Uni- versity and graduated in 2002. After graduation, she worked at a printing company owned by members of Clairemont Emmanuel and also volunteered on Clairemont Emma- nuel’s youth staff for six years after graduation. In 2008 God opened doors for her to serve at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya for one year. Returning to San Diego, Jessica became one of Clairemont Emmanuel’s office secretaries. She returned to serve on the youth staff and children’s ministry for another four years. While attending a wedding in Wisconsin, she met her future hus- band. Jessica and Nick married in July of 2013 and lived in Wiscon- sin for two years. Their daughter, Kylie, was born in 2015 right before Jessica was offered and accepted the position of Administrative As- sistant at Clairemont Emmanuel. Her family moved to San Diego, and she worked in this position for nine years while also serving with children’s ministry. I became a believer at Clairemont Emmanuel 11 years ago when Jerry Root spoke. I believed that I was a sinner in need of a Savior and by grace through faith that Jesus died - covering of my sins, granting me eternal life. I have grown in my walk and knowledge of Him through devoted study at Radius, Ethnos360 and their Missionary Training Center. Both Buzz and I desire to pur- sue God’s command to preach the Gospel to the unreached. But God saw it fit to change our role in that pursuit from goer to send- er after I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Type One Diabetes in March 2020. Through that diagnosis, God has been teaching me to depend on Him for all of my needs and the importance of service in our local home church as well as the unreached. One of six children, Lois grew up in a loving Christian home, and came to saving faith at the age of seven. She attended a three-year Bible college in Michigan. A bro- ken relationship brought the opportunity to move to San Diego in 1984, where through the college/career group here she met and married her husband, Jim. They count it a privilege and blessing to have raised their daughters and now their granddaughter here, where Lois continues to serve in various areas including worship arts, family dinners, and in Women’s Ministry. She unapologetically affirms that she is ‘from a long line of biblical Marthas”, and loves using her gifts to serve the Body of Christ in a myriad of ways. I have been a Christian since childhood and was blessed to grow up in a Baptist church similar to Clairemont Emmanuel in Portland, OR. I met my wife, Nicole, at Westmont College, and during our marriage have been involved in church life, particularly in small groups.While Nicole trained as a medical doctor, I received an MA of Clinical Ministry, and joined the chaplain’s department at Loma Linda Medical Center. Susan accepted Christ as a young girl and sought a more intimate relationship with the Lord at age 15. She came to San Diego in 1998 to attend Point Loma Nazarene University, at which time she started attend- ing Clairemont Emmanuel, she met her husband, Ben, and became a CEBC member later that year. Susan has served as the Senior Thanksgiving Dinner coordinator and Nursery coordinator. She is humbled by the opportunity to serve as Children’s Director at Claire- mont Emmanuel. It’s my honor and pleasure to serve as a Deacon. I was fortunate to be raised in a home where Christ was at the center of everything. Although I have a diverse background, my faith in Christ has been what has defined me the most. Although I have much room for continued growth. God has taken me on a unique path: 20 years in the Navy, a cancer diagnosis for my wife (2017), a one-year family sabbati- cal in an RV around the country, and most recently the adoption of our son Ben. We have been here at CEBC for just over four years, but it already has become such a major part of our lives. We love the family here and truly feel the Lord’s presence throughout the congregation. Timothy Hulbert became a born-again Christian dur- ing Navy Nuclear Power School in 1988. He proud- ly served in the U.S. Navy as a Submariner, where he led the weekly Church Services as the Protes- tant Lay-Leader during four Western Pacific deployments. He earned a Master of Science degree from Columbia Southern University and currently is employed with Puget Sound Na- val Shipyard at Naval Air Station North Island as the Detachment’s Safety Officer and Environmental Manager. Timothy, Debby, and their amazing daughter Christina joined the Clairemont Emmanuel family in 2010. Although Timothy greatly en- joys Ushering/Greeting as well as being involved in the most “unique” Sunday School class this side of the Mississippi (the Truth Seekers), his heart is primarily focused on the Wednesday night Children’s pro- gram,“AWANA”(Approved-Workman-Are-Not-Ashamed). Working with many fantastic, like-minded believers to instill in our cool kiddos a love and respect for our Savior and LORD Jesus is a true blessing. God is good ... all the time!
